Leaders declared martial law in some areas following the deadliest day of protests since the military takeover on February 1st.
In all, more than 200 people have been killed by security forces, according to the AP news service.
Martial Law is law directed by a military in substitution of civilian law. It is usually established to restore order during emergencies.
Martial law can restrict civil rights, including that of free speech.
