The Met Gala is an event held every year in New York City to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Fashion
It is known as “fashion’s biggest night out.” Famous artists arrive wearing expressive clothing. In addition to raising money for the Met, the event marks the opening of the museum’s Costume Institute fashion exhibit.
In this example, fashion is a form of self-expression using clothing. But any popular activity, custom, or product can be described as “in fashion.”
