Flip
Lawmakers voted 15 times before electing Kevin McCarthy to be Speaker of the House of Representatives. McCarthy made many policy promises to his opponents to flip them.
To flip means to turn over suddenly and quickly usually through the air. People will often flip a coin to choose between two things.
To flip your opponents means to win their support.
