Welcome to English in a Minute!
Have you ever stayed mad at someone for a long time? This idiom might help you.
Forgive and Forget
Speaker A: I still cannot believe Bob stopped our work barbecue this year. All because we forgot some silly permit.
Speaker B: Anna, it’s been months. It’s time to forgive and forget. There’s always next year.
Speaker A: Forgive and forget? With Bob? Not happening! He does things like this all the time!
To forgive and forget means to top being angry at someone for something they did. This expression reminds a person to let go of the bad thoughts and focus on better things.
And that’s English in a Minute!
