Implode
Titan and its five-member crew were going to see remains of the 1912 Titanic shipwreck. The US Coast Guard said all five on board died immediately when the vehicle imploded.
In science, objects implode when pressure outside forces them to burst toward their inside. An implosion is the opposite of an explosion. But, people also use implode to describe anything that appears to self-destruct.
