Hi! Good day, everyone! My name is Honey. The Philippines boasts to be the only Christian nation in Asia. That’s why we have a lot of churches here. So today, I will show you the mother of all churches, cathedrals, basilicas in the Philippines.
The Manila-Cathedral Basilica is the Premier Cathedral of the Philippines because it is the first cathedral built here. It was originally the “church of Manila”, officially established in 1571. The cathedral was damaged and destroyed several times since the original structure was built in 1581. While the 8th and current structure of it was completed in 1958. We can also see here the monument in honor of Charles IV, King of Spain. And a “kalesa”, a two-wheeled horse-drawn carriage. It was the primary mode of transportation here in the Philippines.
