South and North Korean leaders are taking steps toward better relations between their countries.

South Korean president Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently resumed all inter-Korean communication channels.
They were cut by North Korea in June 2020.
The move comes after an exchange of letters by the leaders in the last few months.
In this example, to resume is to restart something that was suspended.
It also means to return to something, such as a sitting position after standing.
