The secretive leader Kim Jong Un attended a military parade with his daughter that showed off the country’s nuclear missiles. Her presence caused some to speculate that she may be in line for a leadership position.
To speculate us to form an idea based on limited information. It is similar to the verb, suspect. Here’s another example: We speculate that you are learning American English.
