Welcome to English in a Minute!
Your skin protects your body. So, what happens when something gets under your skin?
To Get Under Someone’s Skin
Speaker A: Anna, pickleball.
Speaker B: Pickleball?
Speaker A: Francis beats me every time. He has this crazy serve and he’s so loud while he plays.
Speaker B: Dan, don’t let him get under your skin. You’re starting to lose focus.
Speaker A: He’s not getting under my skin! He’s just really annoying.
Speaker B: He’s under your skin.
To “get under someone’s skin” means to annoy or bother them. It seems like Francis is getting under Dan’s skin and it’s probably making Dan lose at pcikleball.
And that’ English in a Minute!
