Welcome to English in a Minute!
We all have one face. But what does it mean if you have two? Let’s listen to what two-faced means.
Two-Faced
Speaker A: Anna, guess what? My contact on the city council said he’d support building a pickleball court near my house!
Speaker B: That’s great! Wait, but your contact is a politician, right?
Speaker A: So?
Speaker B: Politicians are known for being two-faced.
Speaker A: What are you saying?
Speaker B: I’m saying don’t trust him, Dan.
Two-faced people behave in a false way. They may say mean things about you to other people. But to your face, they are nice. They may also say different things to different people in order to get their approval.
And that’s English in a Minute!
